If you haven’t visited Gasbarro’s on Federal Hill in Providence then you haven’t seen one of the finest wine shops in the area. Mark Gasbarro has the most amazing selection of Italian wines you’ll see anywhere. I recently went in looking for a specific white wine, a Falanghina from Campania, and not only did they have one, they had multiple choices. You can also find fine wines from around the world as well. They recently received a 15 liter bottle, so if you like big bottles there are some choices here.
We’ll do a full writeup on the store soon as it deserves it. But for now we want to make you aware of a rare chance to taste the wine of Gaja, one of the storied names in Italian wine making. By the way, the tastings at Gasbarro’s are free. Mark informed me that they would have many of the house’s reds open and pouring, so this is not an opportunity to miss.
