Simply Fantastic Value in Cabernet Sauvignon – Buy This!

Here is a rare “Buy This!” recommendation.  No questions asked, no hesitation – if you can find some of this take it home and thank us later.  This is a ridiculously good wine, and that’s at pretty much any price.

So without further delay:

L&L Cote del Sol 2017Wine:   2017 Lucas & Lewellen Cabernet Sauvignon Cote del Sol

Winery Location:   Santa Barbara County, CA

Tasted By:   Neil & Cheri              Date:  July 2021

Tasting Notes: this juice is a dark, purple red, and opaque.  The nose rips out of the glass, and brings plum, currant, spice, oak, herbs, caramel some savory and a touch of orange peel.  This is seriously complex.  On the palate there is more berry than plum.  It comes across as a pure, core of vibrant fruit that races through the middle of this wine from start to finish.  Spice wraps around fruit. It is medium to full bodied, with medium tannins and a long finish.  That fruit powers through to the very end.  Focused, precise and still smooth, this is a rare value, as it is a world class wine that can hold its own against pretty much anything, from any price point.  Everything came together perfectly in this bottle.  92% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Syrah, co-fermented.  Grapes from the Valley View Vineyard in the Santa Ynez Valley.

Price Point –  SRP of $34.99

Would We Buy It?  As much of it as we can find.  We can’t say enough about this wine at this price.

We very, very rarely just flat out recommend you run out and buy a case of something.  This is one of them, and an easy one.  It is a stellar Cabernet, with the purity of fruit and the complexity you expect to cost $100+.  It is simply beautiful, and a unanimous recommendation from both of us.  We drank it in one night after the first sips for making the tasting notes,  We were very sad when it was gone.  If you can find some, buy this.  (Hint: try Wine.com.  Will depend on where you live)

A votre santé!
