World Class Red Blend from Argentina

statiThey make some pretty amazing red wines in Argentina, especially in Mendoza and the Uco Valley.  This is one to take note of, and while it is a bit young right now, it will be absolutely stunning in a few years.

Wine:  2015 Felipe Staiti  Vertigo

Winery Location:   Mendoza, Argentina

Tasted By:   Neil & Cheri          Date:      Decemer 2019

Tasting Notes:   Marcelo Pelleriti is a rock star producer in Mendoza, and was the first Latin American winemaker to ever get a 100 point score from Robert Parker.  This particular wine is a blend of 70% Malbec, 20% Syrah and 10% Cabernet Franc.  You get lots of blueberry, and some violets.  There is earth and some red fruit.  It is big, tannic and full bodied.  I would desribe it as racy right now.  The pieces are all there, they just need a little time to fully integrate.  Certainly delicious now, this will be even better after a year or two in the cellar (if you can wait that long!).

Price Point –    we paid $25, and it is a steal there.

Would We Buy It?    Absolutely!  This is a great wine that is going to get even better.

Sometimes you find $50 bottles for $25, which is what happened here.  We’ll take that deal anytime.

A votre santé!
